Jet uses the core concepts described in this section to allow you to build a set of billable products which match your particular billing needs. The next section will give an overview of the concepts behind the Jet Billing and Rating system.  After this, the remainder of this manual contains a more detailed technical reference, which details each of the options available within the Jet Products Area.

Jet relies on the following concepts:

  • Users
  • Bundles
  • Plans
  • Fees
  • Bands
  • Resources
  • Service Data

A user is a single ‘billable entity’. The way in which a user is billed is determined by the plans which that user is subscribed to. In turn, the way that each plan charges for services is determined by the fees and bands which are attached to it. A fee is a regular charge which does not depend upon how much a user actually uses a service. A band is a way of charging different amounts depending upon how much a user has used a certain resource. A resource is a ‘billable-service’ such as traffic downloaded, time spent connected, or number of calls made. Finally, plans can be collected together into bundles in order to control how the various different plans are made available to your end-users.

A resource is any ‘billable-service’ you care to define, such as traffic downloaded, time spent connected, or number of calls made. Finally, plans can be collected together into bundles in order to control how the various different plans are made available to your end-users.
